Friday, June 17, 2016  ::   A Chicago man was charged in connection with the early morning burglary Thursday of Element Cyclesport, 1101 Chicago Ave., after two residents reported seeing the man break the glass door, enter the store and steal a bicycle valued at nearly $1,000.
Thursday, June 16, 2016  ::   The first draft of recommended changes to local zoning laws that regulate virtually every aspect of land use in Oak Park will be presented to the public at open houses scheduled for June 28, and 30 at Village Hall.
Wednesday, June 15, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating two incidents within about an hour’s time where three pre-teenage girls were verbally harassed as they walked along neighborhood sidewalks late Tuesday afternoon. While descriptions of the suspect shared similarities, police have not determined if the two incidents are connected.
Friday, June 10, 2016  ::   The Village of Oak Park encourages block parties as a way to build community spirit, meet neighbors and have fun. Each block may sponsor two block parties per year, but since some weekends fill quickly, plan early to get preferred dates.
Thursday, June 9, 2016  ::   An Oak Park resident with experience in civil rights litigation and a wide range of property and municipal code actions has been selected as the new Assistant Village Attorney. Rasheda D. Jackson will assume her new duties at Village Hall on Mon., June 13.
Monday, June 6, 2016  ::   Oak Park is hosting free electronics recycling events the last Saturday of June, July and August. Residents can drop off outdated or unwanted electronic devices from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Works Center, 201 South Blvd.
Friday, June 3, 2016  ::   New vendors and special guests are among the attractions during the 41st season of the Oak Park Farmers' Market, which is already in full swing. The Farmers’ Market is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October.
Thursday, June 2, 2016  ::   A public administration executive with extensive experience in a wide range of municipal employee programs and services has been hired as Oak Park’s new Human Resources Director, Village Manager Cara Pavlicek announced today. Julia Scott-Valdez, who has served as Human Resources Director for the City of Rockford since August 2010, is scheduled to assume her new duties in Oak Park on July 11.
Wednesday, June 1, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating the first shooting in the Village this year in what officials are calling an isolated incident not involving any Oak Park residents. The shooting occurred at about 2:30 a.m., Sat., in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue.
Wednesday, June 1, 2016  ::   Public Works crews will likely spend the next few days cleaning up damage created by the severe storm that struck Oak Park on Tuesday afternoon.
