Oak Park Police Department hosting National Night Out celebration
July 14, 2023 - The Oak Park Police Department will be hosting National Night Out, a community celebration that aims to strengthen partnerships and positive interactions between law enforcement and residents.
The event will take place from 5 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1 on the south lawn behind Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Oak Park is one of more than 17,000 communities nationwide participating in the National Night Out campaign, which takes place annually on the first Tuesday of August.
The free event will feature bounce houses, music, face painting, food and beverages. Target will be giving out free back-to-school supplies. Residents can also get an up-close look at a Fire Department engine.
Participants will be able to try their hand at the “Dunk the Police” tank featuring Police Chief Shatonya Johnson. Information booths from departments within the Village and nonprofit community partners will be staffed to provide helpful information for residents.
Residents are encouraged to bike or walk to the event and to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

Beginning at 3 p.m., Adams Street will be closed between Taylor and Lombard avenues. Taylor Avenue will be closed between Adams and the Village Hall parking lot entrance.
