Sept. 17, 2024 – The Village of Oak Park is seeking input from the community as it develops a five-year Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development.
Each year the Village receives Community Development Block Grant funds and Emergency Solutions Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to primarily assist low- and moderate-income persons, including persons experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.
Grant funds are spent based on the Village’s five-year Consolidated Plan. The Village is in the process of writing a new Consolidated Plan, which will be submitted to HUD in August 2025.
A vital aspect of developing the Consolidated Plan involves engaging with stakeholders, advocates, and community members to gather their valuable insights and feedback.
Community members can learn more about the project and provide feedback at a Town Hall meeting scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 10 in Room 101 at Village Hall, 123 Madison St.
Residents and community stakeholders can also provide input by completing an online survey at www.engageoakpark.com/consolidated-plan. The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and will help Village officials to establish budget and program priorities.
The development of the Consolidated Plan is part of the Village's ongoing commitment to creating a sustainable and inclusive community for all its residents.
