Aug. 24, 2017 – The Village of Oak Park has revoked the business licenses for two of the three massage spas closed earlier this month. The third spa withdrew a pending application for a business license.
Angel Spa, 6340 Roosevelt Rd., and King Spa, 6441 North Ave., were ordered permanently closed in separate decisions issued by Village Manager Cara Pavlicek following administrative hearings held on August 14 and 22 at Village Hall, 123 Madison St.
Angel Spa, 1102 Chicago Ave., also has closed permanently after the owners withdrew a pending business license application.
The hearings were conducted to determine if a public nuisance was created by the business operations, to review police investigations of the businesses and to hear from each business owner and their legal counsel.
Oak Park Police and the Cook County Sheriff’s Departments conducted a joint investigation after receiving citizen complaints about possible illegal activity at the businesses. Suspicious activity observed at the locations led undercover officers to pose as potential clients, which allowed them to gather the evidence that led to four arrests and the ultimate decisions to close the businesses.
