July 10, 2015 – As the clock strikes midnight Tuesday evening, the rate for a required Village vehicle sticker will jump $20. Vehicles not displaying a current sticker by Wednesday also could risk a $50 ticket.
Village Hall, 123 Madison St., will be open from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Sat., July 11 for vehicle sticker purchases and renewals. Regular Village Hall hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Parking Services, including vehicle sticker sales, also are available from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays, including July 13.
In-person vehicle sticker purchases and renewals will be available at Village Hall only until 5 p.m. on Tues., July 14.
Residents whose vehicles already are registered with the Village can save 10 percent by renewing online, rather than via mail or in person at Village Hall.
Several computer stations will be available for vehicle sticker purchases and renewals at Village Hall beginning Friday afternoon, allowing walk-ins to get the discount by renewing online. The goal, officials say, is to demonstrate the ease of online renewals to encourage more residents to use the web-based system from home next year, rather than standing in line at Village Hall on deadline day.
Online renewals require a credit or debit card and an email address for confirmation of the transaction.
Individuals renewing in person are urged to bring their renewal notices to speed up processing. Renewal forms mailed to current sticker holders include a unique web identification number that allows a vehicle owner to correct or update most data online, including address and telephone number, and add vehicle information.
Anyone who loses the renewal notice can look up their web ID number using the email address or telephone number used in the previous year’s online renewal process.
The online renewal system will continue to be available after the deadline, but will automatically begin adding the late fee at midnight, July 14.
Every Oak Park resident who owns or leases a motor vehicle is required to purchase and display a vehicle sticker annually by July 15. Anyone who misses the deadline must purchase a sticker and pay a $20 late fee. Failure to display a valid Village sticker by the deadline also may result in a $50 ticket.
