April 13, 2015 – A 25-year-old Chicago man has been charged with attempted murder after what apparently began as domestic dispute early yesterday morning left the victim unconscious in an apartment in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue.

Nicholas A. Polletta, the victim's former boyfriend whose address was listed as in the 2600 block of N. Marshfield Avenue in Chicago, was charged with one count of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated domestic battery.

Bond was set at $500,000 and he is being held in Cook County jail.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where she remains, listed in serious condition with injuries to her head and face.

Oak Park Police responded to a 911 call just before 2 a.m. from a neighbor who said she heard a male and female arguing loudly in a nearby apartment.

When police arrived on the scene they found Polleta inside the apartment building. He ran out of a rear door, but was apprehended after a short foot chase that ended in an alley in the 500 block of North Ridgeland Avenue.

The investigation is continuing.
