April 9, 2010 - Rental property owners, managers and leasing agents are invited to learn more about their responsibilities to accommodate persons with disabilities at a free seminar scheduled for Thurs., April 16, in the small meeting room of the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.
Representatives of the HOPE Fair Housing Center and Village housing officials will discuss when a reasonable accommodation/modification need arises, what a request should include and what the standards are for granting or denying such a request.
The seminar also will include an overview of design and construction requirements for accessibility under the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act.
Two seminar sessions are scheduled – 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m.
