Residents urged to participate in IDOT’s I-290 reconstruction meetings

Oct. 3, 2013 - With state highway planners getting closer to zeroing in on how a reconstructed Eisenhower Expressway will pass through Oak Park, Village officials are urging residents not to miss upcoming opportunities to make sure their opinions are considered.

The next round of open-house-style public meetings will be hosted by the Illinois Department of Transportation next week – Mon., Oct. 7 at the Marriott Hotel, 625 S. Ashland Ave., in Chicago (just east of the Racine Blue Line station), and on Tues., Oct. 8 at the Proviso Match and Science Academy, 8601 W. Roosevelt Road in Forest Park (Pace Bus routes 301 and 308 stop nearby).

Both sessions are scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. A continuous PowerPoint presentation will run, while attendees view study exhibits and speak with IDOT representatives. A question and answer forum will be held at 6 p.m. each day.

More than 100 residents attended a community meeting hosted Monday by the Oak Park Village Board at Irving School. Officials hope Oak Parkers will turn out in even greater numbers at one or both of the October IDOT meetings. A video recording of the meeting at Irving School is posted on this website.

Anyone unable to attend, but still wishing to comment can do so on the project website – just click here for a direct link.

Information about the project and its potential impacts on Oak Park also are posted on this web site.
