Jan. 14, 2022 – A Berwyn man has been charged in connection with a traffic accident that claimed the life of 27-year-old Oak Park resident James Miller on Nov. 21.
Humberto Sanchez, 27, of the 1300 block of Wisconsin Ave. in Berwyn was charged Wed., Jan. 12 with one count of aggravated driving under the influence after a toxicology report revealed his blood alcohol exceed the legal limit.
According to the investigation, Miller was exiting his parked vehicle at about 6:15 a.m. near his home in the 1000 block of South Austin Boulevard when a vehicle allegedly driven by Sanchez traveling south sideswiped four parked cars before striking Miller.
Miller was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 7 a.m. the morning of the incident.
Sanchez was taken into custody, but released on bond pending results of blood and urine samples taken shortly after the incident.
A bond hearing is set for later today in the Fourth Municipal District Courthouse in Maywood. If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison.
