For the first time since the 1990s, the Village has contracted with a new garbage hauler.
On April 1 Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will take over the weekly collection of trash and recycling for residential properties with five or fewer units.
Collection dates and rates, which appear on quarterly water bills, will remain unchanged in 2022.
The various related services will remain largely the same as well, with compost, electronic and hazardous waste, yard waste, bulk items and fall leaf collection all included in the new contract.
Current plans call for residents to keep the same refuse, recycling and compost carts they are currently using.
LRS plans to purchase the carts now in use from current vendor Waste Management and will refresh the carts with decals and address labels sometime this spring.
