All block parties have been suspended in Oak Park until progress has been made to stop the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Under the Restore Illinois plan issued in early May by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, block parties will not be allowed here until the fourth phase of the five-phase plan when gatherings of up to 50 people are permitted.
In the meantime, the Village will not accept any new block party requests. Organizers who had already scheduled a block party will be notified.
According to the Governor, the state plan will rely on data to demonstrate measurable progress against the highly contagious coronavirus to determine progression through the phases.
