Feb. 5, 2019 – Three juveniles from Chicago have been charged in connection with a vehicle hijacking that occurred at about 6 p.m., Mon. in the 800 block of North Boulevard in Oak Park.
The victim, a River Forest resident, told Police that as he was entering his parked vehicle, he was approached by three subjects. One placed a hard object against the victim’s back, implying it was a handgun and demanded the keys, wallet and phone.
The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s car, which was spotted within minutes by a patrolling officer as the stolen vehicle sped east on Washington Boulevard across Oak Park Avenue.
Before pursuit could be initiated, the suspects were involved in an accident with another vehicle at Ridgeland Avenue and Washington Boulevard. The suspects fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended in the vicinity of the accident, arrested, positively identified and charged.
The three are being held in the Cook County Juvenile Center in Chicago.
No injuries were reported in the carjacking or the vehicle accident.
