Aug. 5, 2013 - Oak Park police will step up traffic enforcement as part of National Stop on Red Week, Aug. 4-10, 2013. During the week-long event, police will increase monitoring and traffic stops at Oak Park intersections.
National Stop on Red Week raises awareness about the risk of running red lights.
More than 8,700 people were killed in one year by intersection or intersection-related traffic accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The National Coalition for Safer Roads, which supports National Stop on Red Week, will highlight different aspects of the issue on its website each day of the week.
