June 20, 2016 – Oak Park Police are investigating a shooting involving two vehicles stopped at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday at the traffic signal in the intersection of Austin Boulevard and the I-290 Expressway.
Police say passengers in a car traveling south stopped at the light on Austin, exited the vehicle and began shooting at another car stopped in traffic.
A stray bullet apparently struck the window of a third car stopped in traffic and its driver sustained minor injuries from flying glass.
The two cars involved in the incident then fled the scene in different directions.
The intersection and I-290 ramps were shut down for about three hours while Police investigated the incident.
Police say no other details about the incident are available at this time, but the investigation is continuing.
