May 3, 2017 – A 27-year-old Berwyn man was killed shortly after midnight today when the motorcycle he was driving struck a vehicle at the intersection of Cuyler Avenue and Roosevelt Road on the southernmost border of Oak Park.
According to witnesses, Juan Diaz of the 1400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue in Berwyn was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Road at what appeared to be a high rate of speed when his motorcycle struck a vehicle turning eastbound onto Roosevelt from Cuyler Avenue.
Diaz was thrown several feet from the point of impact, landing on the curb on the south side of Roosevelt west of Cuyler. He was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood where he died of his injuries about an hour after the accident.
Police cited the driver of the vehicle, Tony Williams, 41, of the 1700 block of North Merrimac Street, in Chicago, with failure to yield at a stop sign. Williams was not injured.
