April 27, 2020 – Oak Park Police are investigating a vehicle hijacking that occurred at about 9:45 a.m. today near Cuyler Avenue and Madison Street.
The victim, a 64-year-old Chicago woman, told Police she had just returned from a nearby business on Madison Street to her car in a parking lot in the 500 block of south Cuyler Avenue.
As she opened the door and was preparing to enter her vehicle, she said a man approached her from behind and displayed a knife.
She said she threw the keys into the vehicle and the offender pushed her onto the ground, entered her white, 2019 Chevrolet Trax sport utility vehicle and drove away.
She sustained minor scrapes on a palm and knee, but declined medical care.
The suspect was described as African American, between 18 and 25 years old, wearing a red jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
