The Village of Oak Park's Aging in Communities Commission will host author Ashton Applewhite for a discussion at 6:30 p.m. at The Nineteenth Century Charitable Association (178 Forest Ave.). Author of "This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism," Applewhite was named one of the Healthy Aging 50 - a group of leaders "transforming the world to be a better place in which to grow older" - by the Decade of Healthy Aging, a collaboration between the United Nations and World Health Organization.
The event will feature entertainment and light refreshments. There will also be a raffle during the event where attendees can win copy of "This Chair Rocks."
