Financial Reports & Documents

Audit Management Letters

A Management Letter is prepared by an independent firm of certified public accountants and issued in conjunction with each annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The letter is a formal communication from the auditing firm to the Village recommending internal control improvements.

Audit Deficiency Reports

An audit deficiency report is prepared by an independent firm of certified public accountants and issued in conjunction with each annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The report communicates what the auditors consider to be internal control deficiencies or issues which should be addresses or corrected by management.

Budgets and Budget Summaries

The Village Board, through reviews and discussions at public meetings, determines the final budget. The final budget is adopted at a formal, public hearing held in November or December. The Village fiscal year corresponds with the calendar year of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.

Most Village services are funded from the General Fund. However, some departments make expenditures from more than one fund. Therefore, detailed informational on some departments may be in more than one fund.

Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)

Beginning with the FY 2015 Budget recommendation process, the Village began to formally publish its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This is a long range plan that reviews nature of current projects with the understanding the many may take several years to complete and/or capital programs recur on a scheduled or regular basis.

Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR)

The Village is required to issue annually a report of its financial position and activity presented in conformance with generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and audited in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by an independent firm of certified public accountants (CPA).

Certified Local Government Reports

Certified Local Government (or CLG) annual reports are prepared in fulfillment of the Village of Oak Park’s annual reporting requirement under the National Park Service’s Certified Local Government program established under the National Historic Preservation Act. The Village of Oak Park has been a Certified Local Government since 1994, and is required to report its activities annually.

Car counts

Question to staff: Can estimate as to the daily car volume on Home Ave. near Washington Blvd.? And on Washington in that same location? This is regarding the traffic impact of development and people wondering if four cars will be a difference.

Staff response: Washington Blvd. has about 7,000 cars per day and Home Ave. has about 3,900 per day. Traffic volumes also typically vary day-to-day and can easily be 10-15% different on any given day as compared to averages. An additional four vehicles per day would not change the character of the traffic at this location and would not be noticeable.
