June 3, 2016 - New vendors and special guests are among the attractions during the 41st season of the Oak Park Farmers' Market, which is already in full swing.
Katic Breads from Aurora and Mint Creek Farms, a grass-fed meat vendor from Stelle, have joined long-time vendors who offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, dried and cut flowers, bedding plants, honey and cheeses from Illinois and neighboring states.
Children’s activities are scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month and will be hosted by Ms. Clara's Joyful Learning Center (June 3), Seed Montessori (June 18), Friends of the Conservatory (July 2), the Oak Park Public Library Book Bike (July 16 and Oct. 1), Musicgarten (Aug. 6), Magical Minds Studio (August 20), Park District of Oak Park (Sept. 3) and Wonder Works children’s museum (Sept. 17 and Oct. 15). The West Cook YMCA also will revive the popular vegetable of the week with collectible recipe cards available throughout the market season.
In addition, Chicago Public Radio’s WBEZ-FM will broadcast live from the Oak Park Farmers' Market on June 18, July 16, Aug. 13 and Sept. 3.
The Oak Park Farmers’ Market is open for business from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October in the parking lot of Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake St., just west of Ridgeland Avenue. For more information, visit www.oak-park.us/farmersmarket.
