Cloth face coverings available at Police Department in Village Hall

Residents in need can pick up a free cloth face covering at the Oak Park Police Department lobby in the lower level of Village Hall, 123 Madison St.

Proof of residency is required. Current supplies are limited, so only those residents with no other options should seek a face covering from the Police.

Park District collecting donated face coverings

The Park District of Oak Park is seeking volunteers to create home-made masks for distribution to a number of local organizations. Beneficiaries include Hepzibah Children's Association, Oak Park Township senior services, the Collaboration for Early Childhood and Housing Forward, which provides services for the homeless.

The donated masks are also being distributed to residents in need by the Oak Park Police Department.

Email Maureen.McCarthy@pdop.org to donate masks or inquire about available cloth to make face coverings.

Masks required in public places

Gov. JB Pritzker has mandated that residents over 2 years old use face coverings when in public places where it’s difficult to practice proper social distancing. Growing evidence suggests the virus can spread:

  • Before people show symptoms (pre-symptomatic) and
  • From people who have the virus but never show symptoms (asymptomatic)

Information about how the use of cloth face coverings can slow the spread of COVID-19, including instructions for how to sew face coverings, is available on the on the CDC website
