Feb. 1, 2024 – Village of Oak Park President Vicki Scaman is in the nation’s capital today to participate in a meeting at the White House with approximately 80 elected officials and organization leaders from across Illinois and Indiana to discuss ways that the Biden-Harris Administration has invested in their communities.
“It’s an honor to have been invited by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) to represent Oak Park and join this committed group of leaders to share the stories of how our community has benefitted greatly from the numerous ways that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have helped advance our priorities,” said Scaman. “I look forward to the robust discussion and highlighting the work we are doing in Oak Park on a national stage.”
Scaman will have an opportunity to share information on how American Rescue Plan Act funding has not only helped Oak Park recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, but also how those dollars have helped to accelerate additional priorities and initiatives. Funding has been allocated to support the Village’s Capital Improvement Plan, as well as enhance community safety and equity, while supporting local businesses and tourism efforts.
Those attending the Communities in Action forum will also hear from other federal government leaders throughout the day, including Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President Tom Perez and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
